Liftup’s 2-in-1 stairlift FlexStep has won the “Hessischer Staatspreis” for universal design and it will be officially presented on November 20th at an award ceremony in Frankfurt.

The award is appointed every two years to a product that contributes especially to universal design, so that the product can be easily integrated into the everyday environment while being easy to use for anyone regardless of age. This year’s theme for the award was design solutions that takes people’s requirements into consideration – and provide equal opportunities for all.

The award is presented by the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Social Affairs and Integration in the federal state of Hessen, Germany. The competition itself and the award ceremony are conducted by the German Design Council.

The German Design Council itself describes the award as follows: “According to the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the federal state of Hessen has undertaken to take proper measures to ensure that people with disabilities have equal access to the physical environment, means of transport, information and communication. To promote this obligation, the government in the federal state of Hessen has launched the competition to win the Hessischer Staatspreis for universal design.

It is Liftup's distributor in the state of Hessen, CAMA Lift GmbH that has nominated FlexStep for this distinguished award.
