FLEXSTEP Case: Danish Parliament: The Warehouse

Another FlexStep between the palace and the warehouse

One of the four FlexSteps in Folketinget, the Danish Parliament, provides access between Christiansborg castle and the old warehouse through a narrow passage.

The FlexStep is standing on the old original quarry tile floor in the narrow passage between two buildings. Very few modifications to the existing building was made - only the old staircase had to be removed. The 2 stop software saves floor space, because the upper level works as the 5th step.

The warehouse was built in the period of 1603 to 1606 for storage of provisions for the amy. Today the building houses the Administration of the Danish Parliament, the MP's offices and the reading room of the the National Archives.

FlexStep is an elegant combination of regular stairs and wheelchair lift, which easily provides wheelchair users and the walking-impaired access between two levels. The convertible 2-in-1 solution saves a lot of space compared to both stairs and a lifting platform. FlexStep is easy to integrate into any existing surroundings due to a wide range of design options and configurations.
