FlexStep in Copenhagen City Court

H+ ARCHITECTS managed the reconstruction of the Copenhagen City Court, as two functions were merged both organizationally and physically. Architects from H+ ARCHITECTS always consider accessibility when they renovate older buildings. Space issues and large level differences set the framework for redevelopment and solutions to create accessibility.

Jesper Wegener, partner and architect at H+ ARCHITECTS, says about choosing FlexStep: “The construction had to have both a staircase and a lift but there was not room for both. We found a solution that works as both a staircase and a lift.” (quote: Byggeri - nr. 6/2017)

According to Jesper Wegener, H+ ARCHITECS focuses on creating accessibility solutions that appear to be a part of the building’s interior and design. In this way, they create dignifying accessibility solutions for users with physical disabilities. He says: “The FlexStep is easily adapted to the rest of the interior, among others wooden hand lists in the color we wanted. Therefore, the accessibility solution obtains the same high-quality level as the rest of the work we had performed.” (quote: Byggeri - nr. 6/2017)

FlexStep
