Raizer Cas: Jim Kissling, AutoFarm, US

Jim Kissling, AutoFarm, US

For many people one of the main challenges with a fall accident is to get back up on your feet again. Jim Kissling from the US has experienced this problem repeatedly because of his diagnosis, Kennedy Disease Syndrome (also known as Bulbo-Spinal Muscular Atrophy), that causes his muscles to weaken about 2 % per year.

At this point in his course of the disease, Jim falls one to two times a week and usually it’s his wife who helps him back up. Their most recent concern over the last couple of years has mainly been regarding what happens if she one day is unable to help him up anymore.

This concern encouraged Jim to start searching for an assistive technology that could solve their potential problem. However, it was not easy to find a simple aid that could lift him from the floor after a fall. He was not too excited about having a mechanical sling installed in his home as it – in his opinion – is a device that is mostly seen in hospitals.

Jim's daily job consists of selling mobility aids in the United States and one day he came across a Raizer product video from Liftup. He immediately became fascinated by the lifting chair and showed it to his wife.

Jim contacted Liftup with the desire to buy and distribute Raizer in the US through his company, AutoFarm Mobility. After a series of tests of Raizer at the U.S. authorities, Raizer was approved for sale in the US. On April 26th (2017), the first shipment of Raizers was sent to AutoFarm, who is now certified distributor of Liftup's products in the US.

This case story has resulted in a rewarding collaboration that has both given Jim and his wife a solution to their potential future problem and Liftup has acquired a new partner in the US to whom we have high expectations.
