Danish Parliament: Christiansborg Palace
The first of 4 FlexSteps in the Danish Parliament
You’ll find a FlexStep in the entrance to the restaurant, which leads up to a raised level. The lifting platform is combined with an ordinary staircase of the same design. When a decision was being made on an accessibility solution for people with reduced mobility, it was decided that all customers would enter in the same way, i.e. through the main entrance.
The popular burger restaurant is particularly busy around midday when many people enjoy the premises’ lunch menu. The many customers who go up and down the stairs at the entrance to the restaurant every day barely notice that they are walking on a lifting platform. The FlexStep, combined with a ordinary staircase, is stylishly and discreetly integrated into the general layout of the premises.
Kødstadens Burger Joint is known for not compromising on the quality of its burgers, which is reflected in the layout of the restaurant and the choice of accessibility solution. The long and narrow premises have a raw, modern layout. The walls are a mixture of raw brick and black wall tiles and the floor consists of dark raw oak planks.
The steps on their FlexStep match the oak planks on the floor and the dark-grey metal fits in perfectly with the raw and modern style. In addition to being a smart and discreet installation, it is also a space-saving solution that fits in well with the longish premises and the narrow entrance. In this way, Kødstadens Burger Joint can make use of all the floor space for seating in the restaurant.
