Indoors: Compact and space-saving
In this project, the available space inside the building was limited. A conventional ramp would have occupied a large part of the room, reducing the available floor space and affecting everyday use. At the same time, there was not enough room for both a traditional staircase and a separate platform lift.
The solution was a 4-step FlexStep – an elegant staircase that transforms into a platform lift at the touch of a button. In daily use, it functions as a normal staircase with a minimal footprint. Whenever needed, it provides safe and convenient access for wheelchair users without compromising the interior layout.
Outdoors: A ramp requires more space than you think
Outside the building, the customer chose a conventional access ramp. The comparison speaks for itself. Although the height difference appears modest, a ramp must be surprisingly long to provide a safe, comfortable gradient for wheelchair users. As a result, it occupies considerably more space than most people expect.
The photos clearly illustrate the difference. While the ramp extends across a large area outside, the FlexStep fits neatly inside the entrance, offering an elegant and space-saving solution. It preserves both the functionality and aesthetics of the space while ensuring accessibility for everyone.

...that the number of steps is not what matters. Even a single step can create a significant barrier, but that does not mean the solution has to dominate the space. FlexStep combines a staircase and platform lift in one elegant product – ideal wherever every square metre counts.
