When functionality, flexibility and Nordic design come together in perfect harmony. In an architect-designed home in Kulosaari, Finland, the family chose a Cibes Cloud Plus to create an elegant, future-proof access solution that makes optimal use of space and natural light.

Cloud Plus represents a new generation of platform lifts, where minimalist lines, sustainable materials and customised options make installation possible even in very limited spaces — down to less than 1 m². In this three-storey home, the lift has become a central yet discreet design feature.

Design in dialogue with the home

The homeowners wanted a lift that not only added functionality but also enhanced the architectural narrative of their interior. The lift was therefore powder-coated in Graphite Black (RAL 9011) to match the home’s black architectural details and create visual coherence across the floors.

The chosen platform size fits perfectly into the impressive, floating staircase. The lift utilises an otherwise unused void in the centre of the stairs — a solution that provides full functionality without compromising the light and open architectural expression.

Light as a design element

One of the project’s key features is the glazed lift shaft with extra-slim frames. This makes the lift appear almost transparent and allows daylight to flow freely between the floors. The partially glazed walls create a light and airy impression that reinforces the home’s modern architectural lines.

The elegant saloon doors with concealed automatic door openers combine design with practicality. They require minimal space on each landing, while the large glass panels provide full visibility through the staircase.

Adapted to each floor

Ground floor: The glass door and shaft draw daylight into the lift, making it a natural part of the entrance.

First floor: The lift occupies the central staircase void and appears almost floating.

Second floor: The transparent shaft allows the lift to blend seamlessly with the home’s bright and elegant.
