Danish welfare technology now accessible to even more people all over the world

08 June 2021

For several years, the electrically operated lifting chair for professionals, Raizer, has been a great success around the world, e.g. in the UK where the regulations for healthcare workers regarding lifting and handling are strict. The restrictions valid for lifting and handling also apply to the ambulance services using the Raizer. Similar provisions are applicable in Australia, where the lifting chair is an important aid for ambulance services.

In the USA, the fire department is typically required if a person has fallen and needs help to get back on the feet, and it can be quite a costly affair for a private person to acquire the necessary assistance in case of an accident – not least if it happens frequently. Exactly such circumstances, have been important in the inspiration of developing the Raizer M.

In the USA and Canada private persons have shown great interest in the Raizer, and a video campaign has made the Raizer viral triumph at Social Medias. However, this type of advanced welfare technology may be too expensive for private users to acquire. Therefore, it has been Liftup's ambition to develop a product with the same qualities whicg solves the same problem as the Raizer: to raise a person lying on the floor, unable to get up by her/himself.

The solution proved to be the manual lifting chair, the Raizer M, which requires very little efforts from the helper and no prior prerequisites to use it. Especially this feature is important according to Development Engineer at Liftup, Lars Wigh: “In my opinion, there is a dignity in being able to help your spouse or parents if they fall. Maybe the lifting chair will contribute to people feeling safe and secure in their own home, here in Denmark or maybe especially on our export markets where such aid is a costly affair. In that case we have truly reached our goal”, he says. The CEO at Liftup A/S, Søren Elisiussen, agrees: “Now it is possible for spouses, children and grandchildren to help their relatives. Just as the Raizer II protects professional healthcare workers and rescue personnel from injuries, the Raizer M may save elderly and fragile people as well as their relatives a lot of worry. It gives added safety at home or in the local environment. With the Raizer M we can make almost anybody a potential helper,” says Søren Elisiussen.

“We believe USA to be a significant market for the Raizer M among private persons. Not least because it is quite expensive to call the fire department for help. A Raizer M acquired by a private person will typically have a payback time of just two calls for external help,” says the market responsible at Liftup North America, Inc., Benny Steen Rasmussen.
