Hotel Maria, Helsinki
Hotel Maria, centrally located in Helsinki, is known for blending historical architecture with modern luxury. This 5-star hotel has undergone an extensive renovation to provide top-class comfort and elegance while preserving the building's cultural heritage. To make the hotel accessible to all guests, regardless of mobility needs, Hotel Maria chose an innovative solution from Liftup.
The Solution
Discreet and Space-Saving
FlexStep was an ideal solution for Hotel Maria because this revolutionary lift platform is designed to meet accessibility needs in areas with limited space and where a discreet solution is desired. At first glance, FlexStep appears to be an ordinary staircase, but with the press of a button, it transforms into a lift that safely and efficiently transports users between levels. This solution is now installed in the basement hallway of Hotel Maria, providing direct access to the hotel’s spa area.
Flexibility, Quality, and Integration
The narrow corridor in the basement required a solution beyond standard. Liftup's team of engineers, designers, and sales specialists developed a customized version of FlexStep that accommodates wheelchairs and includes a narrow fixed staircase beside it for walking guests. Due to limited space, the standard railing was omitted, and instead, a handrail was mounted on the wall. The entire installation is discreetly executed in black, with steps covered in the same tiles as the rest of the hallway, making FlexStep almost invisible, blending seamlessly with the hotel's elegant interior.
At Hotel Maria, FlexStep not only enhances accessibility but also preserves the hotel’s sophisticated aesthetic. With this solution, Liftup has helped Hotel Maria create an inclusive and memorable experience for all guests in the heart of Helsinki.
